The Only Thing plot

Harry Vane, the Duke of Chevenix, travels from England to the mythical kingdom of Chekia, where he falls in love with Princess Thyra. However, Thyra has an obligation to marry the king, even though he is old, ugly and always bad-tempered. When she refuses Vane's proposal, Vane is determined to win her over, even after her marriage. But a revolution breaks out in Chekia and the king is murdered. Revolutionary leader Gigberto leads Thyra away. Vane disguises himself as a rebel so that he and Thyra are tied up together. Both are then thrown into the bay, but Vane is able to free himself from his shackles and rescue Thyra. Now they can escape together...
