The Night Runner plot
"Are mental patients turned loose too soon?"
Roy Turner, a psychiatric patient with a violent past, is discharged from the clinic against the advice of his doctors and sent back to his former home. The doctors realize that Turner can't handle the pressures of big city life yet, and don't want him to commit the crimes of his past again. Turner departs by bus to a small coastal town. He takes a small room in a motel and falls in love with Susan, the daughter of the motel manager Loren Mayes. Everything seems to be going well for Turner, until the caretaker becomes suspicious of Turner's past.
