The Muralist plot

Bayaraa, a weather-beaten muralist who once enjoyed fame in Europe, returns to Mongolia with only a box of paints, a rooftop tent, and his faithful stray dog. Every day, he descends the wall of an abandoned factory, covering the crumbling concrete with expansive murals of mythical Mongolian landscapes. He is watched by a sarcastic balloon, simultaneously his conscience, companion, and a touch of fable. When officials announce the factory's imminent demolition, Bayaraa decides to leave his masterpiece behind. But the deeper struggle unfolds within him: the long-hidden wound of the wife and daughter he abandoned for art.
