The Mississippi Gambler plot
"Story of the Old Romantic Days of the River Steamboats"
On a riverboat in the Mississippi, gambler Jack Morgan wins a large sum of money, entrusted to Junius Blackburn, in a poker game. As Junius retreats to his cabin, his daughter, Lucy, shows Jack a locket that she will give only to the man she loves. The gambler's jealous ally, Suzette Richards, then convinces Lucy that Jack Junius has taken his money. After preventing her father's suicide, Lucy demands that Jack return the winnings. Instead, he offers her the chance to get the money back in a card game or lose herself to him.
