The Miracle of Money plot

Cousins Emmy and Patty Hodges, both spinners, run the local hat shop in a small town. One day, the women inherit a fortune from an uncle. Emmy, determined to ease her cousin's pain from a broken-off love affair with Jim Heath years earlier, insists they use the money to visit New York. In the city, the two women indulge in shopping but find no happiness until one night when Patty hears of an invalid living in the hotel room next door who offers assistance. Upon entering the room, Patty discovers her cousin's old lover, Jim, and learns that he was forced to leave Emmy to save his younger brother from prison.
