The Mill on the Floss plot
The film is set in Victorian times. When a businessman (James Frain) has a mill seized by court, he becomes the personal enemy of the family that has owned this mill for 300 years. The judge's son then falls in love with the family's daughter (Emily Watson), but is forbidden to associate with him. Things get even worse when her cousin's husband turns out to be in love with her.
