The Masked Rider plot
This 15-part serial is set in the border area between Mexico and Texas. The violent bandit and cattle thief Pancho, along with his henchman Santas and a group of horsemen, has sworn to drive the settlers from the frontier. In the ensuing conflict, old rancher Bill Burrel, Harry and Blanche's father, is mortally wounded. Pancho's hands are shattered, presumably by the ranchers, but the real culprits are Pancho's treacherous and vengeful henchman Santas and his equally sneaky companion Rodriguez. Pancho had insulted Rodriguez for not allowing him to ask for his daughter Juanita's hand, nor did Pancho allow him to get along with the rancher's daughter Ruth Chadwick, Harry Burrel's girlfriend. Pancho vows bitter revenge on the Burrels, Santas and Rodriguez.
