The Lion's Den plot

Reverend Sam Webster admonishes his parishioners for their failure to fund a boys' club to keep the boys from frequenting the town's pool halls. The town's richest man, grocer Stedman, whose daughter Dorothy loves Webster, responds to Webster's request for $2,500, half the required amount, by writing a check for $25. To raise money for the club, Webster follows Dorothy's suggestion and enters into a partnership with grocer Jarvis, who had nearly bankrupted Stedman. After Stedman lowers his prices below cost, Webster enlists the help of the boys, who encourage their mothers to shop at his store.
