Ann Dolan is a traveling saleswoman who falls in love with Joe Adams, a man who works at a rival company. Through her good sales tactics, she ensures that the company where she works gains more prestige and performs better financially than the company where Joe works. She earns a lot of money, which allows her to pay for her younger brother Bud's education. When Ann and Joe get engaged, Joe tries to put an end to her financial contributions to her brother. She considers this a cruel proposal and breaks off the engagement.
