The Last Journey plot
Bob Holt has his last ride as a train driver before his retirement. A journey that is made more difficult by his grief at the departure from work and his suspicions about a relationship between his wife and his stoker. Aboard Bob's train are a couple of pickpockets, a honeymoon couple, a drunk, a lackluster brochure writer, and a host of ordinary people, all with more or less bizarre, characteristically English manners. Bob performs an unexpected act and this creates an unexpected interaction between the various passengers.
