The Krays plot

During the 1960s, the London underworld was dominated by two brothers; Ronnie and Reggie Kray. 'The Krays' is their true story. Ronnie and Reggie were born and grew up during the hard war years in London's East End. Encouraged by their domineering mother Voilet, they emerged as brutal leader types.

Weakly told. Building a gangster empire is depicted in a very fragmented way. No tension or threat (apparently no trouble from the police and the competition is just loudmouthed). The traitor in the group is very well-behaved yet also very brutal at times. Primarily a feminist perspective with the mother and her sisters. They are the bosses of the house and the men are cowardly (don't want to fight in the war). They are very protective of the boys, which is why those little monsters at the beginning become real monsters. The only point the film wants to make. Occasionally a good scene (the wife's suicide) but generally disappointing.
