If you look at the poster then you think you are dealing with some kind of "Sexy Beast (2000)" movie and that is correct a little. This film also revolves around British criminals who are in Spain. This again provides a nice sultry summer atmosphere and also some beautiful images of the area. By the way, who also provided some beautiful images was the beautiful Georgina Chapman.

In terms of story (drugs and rise / fall) it is actually a bit disappointing because the whole is not really exciting or exciting, but the execution is nice and that is partly due to the cast, but especially because of the continuously present beautiful 80s music (the British hits of the time, such as the delightful "Maid of Orleans" by OMD or "Wild Flower" by The Cult) in the background. The film is set somewhere in the eighties, which is clearly visible in the many colorful clothes that are worn. Of the cast, Tamer Hassan in particular did well, and he also looked great as a slicker. The role of Geoff Bell as the crazy and tough Sammy was also nice. I thought he resembled the old FC Den Bosch keeper "Jan van Grinsven" The ending was quite nice and also knowing that the Spaniards simply discharge their excrement directly into the sea.

This film is quite nice to have seen, but it certainly can't match the level of "Sexy Beast". I actually wanted to give this film a 2.5, but because of the music (youth sentiment) I round it down to a 3.0.

If you fancy the greatest hits of the eighties, you can also watch this film instead of some collector. Love plays one every once in a while. Too bad he doesn't make much more of it. He tries to give it a kind of Guy Ritchie light sniff, but that effect wears off quickly and his film soon gets bogged down in adolescent screams, name-calling and other limited stuff.

With the kind of criminals that make you wonder how they managed to achieve any success at all. And the voice over of Dyer who tries to act as tough as in his hooligan docs. That also doesn't work at all. The first half of the film then goes somewhat, but when the proportions become tense and setbacks follow, it immediately collapses through its shaky, weak hooves.

Wonderful story about a few gangsters from the storm surge of English (and Dutch) penoze who lived around the southern Spanish coast in the 1980s. The film has a great English folk-crime twist and a pleasant undertone of humor, brought to me by two/three convincing protagonists who don't take everything too seriously. Music and clothing give a flashback to the eighties where rolling up the sleeves of your jacket was not a waste of your good suit.

Top.
