"The Thrilling Romance of a Boy and Girl who survived the Terrifying Experience of THE JOHNSTOWN FLOOD"
Tom O'Day is engaged to Gloria. Gloria's father, John Hamilton, is a wealthy lumberman who manages a dam upstream from the town of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He wants to keep the water behind the dam at the highest level to facilitate his logging contracts. But Tom knows the dam is defective and endangers thousands of people in the valley below. A massive flood seems inevitable unless Tom can convince Hamilton to leave the floodgates open and reduce the danger.
