The Great Lover plot
After studying in Europe, Ethel Warren returns to New York to make her debut in the opera company of world-famous baritone Jean Paurel. The singer Carlo Sonino falls in love with Ethel and he warns her about the seductive skills of the baritone. When Paurel sets his sights on Ethel, she incurs the jealousy of the singer Sabotini. After the first act, Ethel hears that Paurel has lost his voice. Backstage, she hurriedly announces her engagement to him. Paurel is unable to perform and Carlo steps in for the second act. After the performance it turns out that Paulel will never be able to sing again. Retired singer Bianca confesses that Carlo is his son. She pleads with Paul to break off his engagement to Ethel for the sake of their son.
