Joe Riley is a boxing match referee. Joe's life motto is similar to the sporting rules of the prize fighters in the boxing ring. Nick Martel is a tough, pugnacious boy from Chicago who has had to fight for everything he has achieved in his life and Bob Gilmore, who has been through everything in his life, are both in love with Patti, Riley's daughter. Nick and Bob fight over Patti at the 'Golden Glove' amateur boxing tournament.
