The Glory of Yolanda plot
Yolanda, the daughter of a poor Russian peasant, happens to meet Grand Duke Boris, who is captivated by her beauty. When the duke discovers Yolanda's dream of becoming a dancer, he offers to pay all expenses so the girl and her mother can join the Russian ballet in Petrograd, the country's capital. During her stay, Yolanda meets a young artist named Alexander, and they fall in love. After Yolanda achieves success as a dancer, the duke forces himself upon her. During the ensuing fight, her brother Serge intervenes, and the duke is killed. Prince Drolinski, a lifelong friend of the duke and an ardent admirer of Yolanda, hears of the murder but is moved by her pleas and allows Serge to escape. Yolanda then accompanies Alexander into exile until the prince can arrange a pardon for them.
