The Girl with All the Gifts plot
"Our greatest threat is our only hope."
In a closely guarded complex, a small group of children are studied to find a cure for a virus that has ravaged the entire world. They are the last hope for humanity. Ten-year-old Melanie goes to school every day. Like any normal girl, she has a favorite teacher and a favorite subject. However, she is taken to school in a kind of straitjacket and when they come for her it is always with guns drawn. But why is that?

Nice film about a number of children in a closed complex who receive lessons every day. Apart from the girl as a kind of half-zombie, this film has little new to offer within the genre. It remains entertaining and it all looks good. Of course, the ending was also nice.

This one actually came on my radar unexpectedly because of Dirtees - Popculture T-shirts.
And also with this I have to say that missing the trailer provided a better movie experience. But it is not a real winner, especially because the child in the lead role acts rather catatonic. And when other kids come into the picture, the interaction is almost laughable. The adults, on the other hand, are doing just fine and a haggard London looks amusing.

Expertly made apocalyptic zombie film. What does The Girl with All the Gifts especially well is the chilling atmosphere it creates, and the actors are also perfectly cast. Arterton, the young Nanua, Considine and of course Glenn Close, all have their moments to excel.
The script is sometimes unnecessarily complicated, and especially a certain plot development around the zombies and the end of the world could have been worked out better. But The Girl with All the Gifts is exciting, has good acting and remains fascinating to watch.
