The Female plot
Dalla is an untamed orphan girl from the South African plains. She falls in love with the British Colonel Valentia, but his sophisticated friends mock her. Disillusioned, she enters into a marriage with Barend de Beer. They will wait three years to consummate the marriage. In the meantime, Dalla goes to Great Britain and learns to behave like a lady.
