Myra Willard is a simple girl who is impregnated by James Rutledge. In a tantrum, his jealous wife showers Myra with caustic acid. Myra's face is disfigured as a result and she withdraws with her child to a remote village in the mountains. Thirty years later, she arranges a marriage between her daughter and a rich old man.
