Tommy, the younger brother of former boxer Joe Kelly, decides to become a boxer too and leaves his hometown of Maine to try his luck in New York. All goes well until he comes into contact with criminal gamblers, who want to determine the outcome of the boxing matches. Joe, who has been away for a few years due to boxing disappointments, hears about Tommy's dilemma and advises him to stop. Tommy does the same, after which the gangsters want to take revenge on the brothers. A sports journalist notices this and warns the police.
