The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial plot
The USS Cain is caught in a hurricane off the coast of Iran. Lieutenant Stephen Maryk believes that Lieutenant Commander Phillip Queeg is mentally disturbed, endangering his crew members. Maryk takes over command from the captain and manages to get all crew members to safety. He is now on trial for mutiny.

William Friedkin's swan song is a (redundant) remake of Edward Dmytryk's court-martial classic. Still a film with a solid story (moved to the Gulf War), but overall it doesn't come close to the Humphrey Bogart original from 1954.

Excellent film about a court martial following a possible mutiny on a military ship. A story that has previously been filmed, but this time moved to the present. A courtroom drama par excellence, as the film takes place almost entirely in court. Even though the outcome is clear from the start, the film remains entertaining. Some interrogations are fascinating, the acting is good and the ending is also surprising. A small 4.0 stars for this last film by William Friedkin.

Cross-examining and hearing testimonies in a courtroom for almost 2 hours may seem boring, but the time flew by. The subject of the trial itself is not that interesting in itself, but the way in which the cross-examinations were conducted was interesting, and thanks to a well-performing cast, I was never bored for a moment.
