The Burdened plot
Isra'a lives with her husband Ahmed and their three children in the old port city of Aden in southern Yemen. Their daily lives are defined by the civil war - that means military checks in the streets, frequent power cuts and having to lug water from the street to the kitchen. Ahmed used to work in television, but after several paychecks went unpaid, he now earns his living as a driver. When Isra'a unexpectedly becomes pregnant, the couple find themselves in crisis. After all, they cannot financially afford a fourth child.
