The Awakening plot

During World War I, the French peasant girl Marie Ducrot (Vilma Banky) was nicknamed "mud" for having an affair with the German soldier Count Karl von Hagen (Walter Byron). Marie becomes a nurse in a military field hospital. Meanwhile, Karl learns that Marie is dead. Gradually he finds out that this information cannot be correct.
