The Angel Doll plot

Celebrated author Jerry Barlow recalls a childhood Christmas. Jerry grew up in a middle-class family and really lacked for nothing. Fate puts him in touch with Whitey Black. He comes from a poor family and has an incurably ill four-year-old sister. Jerry learns that this little sister would like to get a doll in the shape of an angel for Christmas. Whitey saves money from a newspaper route to buy the doll for his sister, but then it turns out that there is no angel doll in the entire town. In addition, he will lose his savings.
