That Englishwoman plot

At the end of the nineteenth century, the wayward Emily Hobhouse leaves for America after the death of her father. She stands up for the rights of emigrant miners, but receives little support. Back in England, she is shocked to hear the stories of the Boer War in South Africa and deeply cares about the fate of the mothers and children living in those camps. She leaves for South Africa to check the situation and what she finds there is horrific. She tries to offer as much help as possible, but her budget is insufficient to actually improve the situation for the longer term. Back in England, Emily tries to find supporters at the political level to free up money for South Africa. However, the British government is not very helpful. Emily has to overcome many obstacles and it becomes more and more difficult to achieve her goal.
