Taxi plot

Ed Nielson is a cab driver in Manhattan. His mother thinks he should find a wife and is constantly nagging about it. Ed is also having trouble getting a loan for his taxi; he must make an important payment before nightfall. But then he falls in love with one of his clients: Mary, a young Irish immigrant who has just arrived in New York to look for her husband. Mary discovers her husband isn't as loyal as she thought, but she's forced to stay with him. Ed, who has his own problems and still owes a lot of money from Mary - because she wants to go everywhere for her quest - decides to save his new love from an unmanageable future.
