In the fifties, Tangiers is still an International Zone where creative minds of all kinds flock to experience the freedom that they cannot find in their own country. Beat poet William “Billy” Burroughs also ends up in the Moroccan city, where he experiences chaotic times with other free-spirited bohemians such as writer/composer Paul Bowles and his bisexual wife Jane, and British painter and artistic centipede Brion Gysin who opens a hotel there. .. But in addition to creative highlights – Burroughs writes The Naked Lunch there – their urge to experiment and eternal thirst for intoxication also provides painful moments and tearing feelings…
