This is a different, but nice film. I always like films with different storylines, which somehow flow into each other or are connected. This is such a film and I also liked it. Because of the black and white and the busy first 5 minutes, the film immediately creates its own strong atmosphere. Because it all takes place on New Year's Eve, everything comes across extra, because the contrast with the drama of the different main characters naturally stands out strongly against the partying inhabitants of Split.
All three stories have something strong, but the story with the dark sailor was especially impressive. I thought the dialogue between him and the woman was quite strong and the ending was impressive and, unlike the other two stories, it did touch me emotionally. Furthermore, I normally don't have much to do with hip-hop music, but here I thought it fitted the atmosphere of the film well and was certainly not disturbing.
Furthermore I can simply conclude that this is quite a strong director's debut. Beautiful black and white images and an interesting and well-developed storyline. Certainly fun to have seen once and who knows what this director will come up with in the future.

Beautiful drama about the underside of Croatian society on New Year's Eve. The iron-strong scenario does not let the different storylines merge, but cleverly weaves them together consecutively. Beautifully filmed in brilliant black and white with many helicopter views. Without a doubt very good.

Nice but ultimately unremarkable mosaic of lives around New Year's Eve in Croatian Split. The black and white camera work is impressive, with a number of cool shots, but characters and storylines let it down a bit at crucial moments. Most special aspect of the film is the role of rapper Coolio, here quite convincing as a depressed sailor.
