Swansong: Story of Occi Byrne plot
Austin 'Occi' Byrne's life begins when his mother brings him back to her village in Sligo after she failed to get an abortion in England. Occi suffers the traumatic bullying of a local gang, but remains devoted to his alcoholic mother, convinced that his lost father will one day reappear in his life. He is admitted to an asylum, but when it has to close, he finds work on a trawler.
