Stuntnacht plot

Carel Justens is a Dutch teacher at a secondary school and mentor to Dirk Jan, who is graduating this year and is the target of bullying from a group around Marco and his friends. He is concerned about Dirk Jan and those worries are justified when he finds Dirk Jan in the gym after the stunt night, crashed and smashed on the hard floor. Dirk Jan is taken to hospital in critical condition and Carel has to explain to the police how a stunt night could have gotten so out of hand. His story takes him past the inability of the teachers to do something about the bullying that also bothered a teacher, the gay gym teacher Hugo. But he also talks about the bad reputation of the school and the reluctance of the teachers to give the students free rein on the traditional stunt night in hopes of preventing worse.
