Strictly for the Birds plot

Kate Birdsall, a transgender, was born decades before the word existed, and struggled to make it all make sense. Through many relocations and many jobs, including a career with the Coast Guard, Kate evolved until, at age 65, she could claim herself and found the love of her life, Andrea Drury. Their journey to justice as individuals and as a couple has grown into a beautiful blended family, which includes Kate's daughter and grandson.
