Stars over Broadway plot

Promoter Al McGillevray has had little success of late until he meets singing doorman Jan King. Al sees something in Jan and he signs a contract with him. He takes potty jobs to pay for Jan's singing lessons and drops the idea of letting Jan sing in an opera when he learns it will take years. Al then lets Jan sing in a nightclub and from that moment on it goes uphill. But Jan soon starts to stay away from the singing lessons and rehearsals and gets drunk, which threatens to end the collaboration between Al and Jan.
