Splendor in the Grass plot

Deanie Loomis and Bud Stamper are a high school couple pressured by tough rules. Deanie's old-fashioned mother, in particular, is against their relationship, warning her daughter that he only wants to sleep with her. She fears that her daughter wants to move on with him, after which he will lose his respect for her. Meanwhile, Bud wants to have sex with his girlfriend, but gets frustrated when she's determined to wait. Because he can't live his entire teenage life without sex, he wants to sleep with one of the promiscuous girls in town.
