Successful political scientist Sara M. Kardow has already changed her job when she receives an attractive proposal: The Chancellor wants to appoint Sara as a consultant. Sara takes the job, partly at the insistence of her husband. Some time later, the chancellor is forced to leave the political scene for an indefinite period of time. Sara finds herself in the ministry among power-hungry people, who are already counting on the final departure of the apparently weakened Chancellor.
