Soul Hustler plot
"May the Lord have mercy on your soul..."
Matthew Crowe, a smoking prostitute and wandering singer, teams up with a tent show preacher. The pastor recognizes Matthew's charisma and together they receive large donations by spicing up the pastor's services with Matthew's rock gospel. Matthew even lands a record deal with his new act "Matthew, Son of Jesus" and the preacher becomes his manager. They hire a backing band onstage dressed in monk's robes, while Matthew wears a white robe with sandals on his feet. Their debut album becomes a big hit and a big tour is planned to promote the album.
