A man tries to find out how his grandfather's death during the Spanish Civil War caused the entire family to fall apart for three generations. Was his ancestor really the hero as he always heard during his childhood, or a traitor as his grandmother once claimed after a life in silence? During his journey from Copenhagen, via the small rocky island of Bornholm, to the red mountains of the Ebro in Spain, Laurits tries to find out the truth.
