"Britain 1939. Hitler's grip is tightening. No-one can be trusted."
In 1939, daughters of high-ranking Nazis are taught at a boarding school on the English coast. Mrs. Rochell oversees the institution, Thomas Miller is one of the teachers. When one of his colleagues discovers what awaits them, he wants to warn the others. When he is subsequently found dead, Thomas is on the run.

In my opinion, the film has too low a rating on Moviemeter and IMDB. It is certainly not a masterpiece, but if you like the genre, you will certainly appreciate the film. The genre is a true story on the eve of the Second World War. Some spy work, treason, pursuit and some tension at the end. The acting is really good, the atmosphere is well sketched. However, the film remains average. And that is mainly due to the script, in my opinion. Some characters are portrayed too superficially (especially applies to Ilse Keller and Gretel). Why do they do what they do? And what exactly is the role of Gretel? The second shortcoming of the script is that some things are completely unclear and even illogical. For example: why does Ilse get a list of spies? Why do the girls have to be shot dead by Ilse if the mission fails? The first murder also cheaply misleads the viewer.. As a viewer, you have to be able to accept this. If you succeed and accept the shortcomings, you will have a nice film. The film is a bit slow, but that also fits the genre and the entire tone of the film. That is why I give it three stars this time, which is one star more than I expected based on the reviews here.

Good movie, I thought at first what should it be. But otherwise fine with good story. Jude Dench with her 86 years was very good. I give 4 stars that deserves this movie. I really do not understand the low rating.

On August 15, 1939, an English teacher [Nigel Lindsay] disappeared without a trace from Augusta Victoria College, a school in the English coastal town of Bexhill-on-Sea where the daughters of high-ranking Nazi officers are educated in the National Socialist ideology. The German-English spy Thomas Miller [Eddie Izzard] is the new English teacher at the school led by Miss Rocholl [Judi Dench], but it is not long before doubts arise about his loyalty. The question is whether he can find out in time what happened to his predecessor and whether this Nazi school is of strategic importance for a possible invasion by the German army. War thriller with an interesting approach unfortunately chooses the path of the fleeting thriller and not that of the intellectual war film. Entertaining, but this could have been much more interesting.
