Sixteen-year-old Sammie and her drug-addicted, alcoholic mother Marlene share an unhealthy fascination with death. They see it as a better place than the world they live in. Sammie's father is in prison which introduces her to the world of the scam to make ends meet. When Sammie's father gets out, things don't get any better.
