Shifting Sands plot
Marcia Gray is falsely accused of theft by German Heinrich Von Holtz and sent to Blackwell's Island for 90 days. Back in society, she joins the Salvation Army. Through this she meets the wealthy benefactor John Stanford whom she then marries. A few years later, war breaks out. Heinrich, disguised as an Englishman but actually a German spy, pays a visit to the Stanford family. He recognizes Marcia and tries to blackmail her into working for the Germans.
