During the holidays, college students Gwen and Susan travel to Puerto Rico. Here Susan hopes to convince her beloved Larry to marry her. Gwen has very different plans: she wants to lose her virginity on the tropical island. Meanwhile, things don't go well between Susan and Larry, who is now a composer and bandleader. His commercially successful father finds it hard to accept Larry's licentious life until he hears a beautiful song from him.
