Second Wife plot
"LABELLED! With a ring on her finger, a rope on her neck, and a chip on her shoulder, she undertook to make a happy home for a man and his son!"
Gertrude Michael, recently married to Walter Abel, is about to have a child. However, Abel discovers that his son by his first wife, living in a remote Swiss village, is ill. Abel is forced to leave his second wife behind during childbirth. Gertrude denounces Abel's absence and prepares to move on with another man, but the new lover wants nothing to do with children. A difficult situation arises.
