Saworoide plot
Lapite, the chosen King of Jogbo, has decided to enrich himself in his quest for the throne. He eliminates all opponents by sending assassins at them, or by banishing them. His rival Adebomi is murdered and Ayangalu, the official drummer, is forced to flee into exile. Lapite takes a new wife and begins to massively exploit the vast reserve of forest wood. Protests from the villagers and farmers are relentlessly suppressed. Desperate, the youths march to the palace and get their hands on the crown, which, according to tradition, is not allowed to leave the palace. Desperate in turn, Lapite seeks military help by enlisting the hit man Lagata. However, Lagata, a retired military officer, kills Lapite and takes over the kingdom. Lagata intends to become a real king and has a strict rule over the people. But still during his coronation ritual, the assassin falls dead before the eyes of the public. The people have learned a bitter lesson. From now on, no king may evade the correct procedures of accession to the throne.
