2nd Oscar for Jack Lemmon, he deserves it, but the first hour of the film couldn't really captivate me. Too busy and somewhere the feeling that it would have worked better as a comedy. As a drama it could have been a bit more fierce and cynical.
The last half hour starts to get interesting, the evening at Myra's is very nice, or the last appointment with Charlie.
Overall: Not entirely satisfactory, unfortunately.

Good film about the owner of a clothing company who tries to save his business. The story unfolds slowly and takes place over two days. Some good dialogues and moments, but here and there it sometimes sags a bit. Jack Lemmon is always a pleasure to watch at work and here again he plays an excellent role.

It is mainly Jack Lemmon who makes this film worth watching, especially in the second half of the film he shows again why he was one of the best actors of his time.

Unfortunately, the story itself had a hard time captivating me. It's not a problem that not much happens, but the dialogues themselves weren't always that interesting.

Laurie Heineman could have had a bit more screen time, I found the scenes between her and Lemmon the most interesting.

2.5*
