In 12th century England, Saxons and Normans are fighting a bloody war for supremacy. In these turbulent times, knight Ivanhoe goes in search of the English king Richard, who has disappeared. After years of travel, the knight finds his king in the dungeons of an Austrian castle. Richard is held there with the knowledge of his cruel brother John, who preys on the throne and consequently refuses to pay the requested ransom. Determined to collect the sum, Ivanhoe heads to his father Cedric's fortress where he meets the Jew Isaac and his beautiful daughter Rebecca. The girl immediately falls madly in love with the brave knight and is only too eager to help him achieve his goal...
