Saraba Itoshiki Daichi plot
Truck driver Yukio is married to Fumie. They have two boys and she is pregnant. His father is a small farmer, whom he supports financially. When Yukio's two sons are killed in an accident while playing, it moves him deeply. The marriage breaks down, his wife moves in with his parents and he quickly seeks comfort from Junko, who was once friends with his younger brother Yabuki. Junko gives Yukio a daughter. Gradually it becomes clear that Yukio is envious of his (more) successful younger brother Yabuki. As Yabuki ascends the social ladder, Yukio sinks deeper and deeper into the pit.
