Sandra Brown's White Hot plot
Sayre Hoyle is a single, successful interior designer. She lives in San Francisco, but was born in Louisiana. When her brother dies suddenly, Sayre returns to the small Louisiana village where her family lives. There she meets her father again, the corrupt owner of a factory. He not only has control over his employees, but also over the inhabitants of the village. Sayre meets Beck Merchant, her father's lawyer. Beck immediately shows an interest in her. Sayre suspects her brother's death was no accident and begins her own investigation.
