Salvage plot

Bernice Ridgeway has a deformed child. Her husband hides the newborn and tells his wife that he was stillborn. When Bernice finds out what really happened, she leaves her husband and moves into a portico. She will take care of the daughter of one of her roommates. In the same building also lives a crippled man who takes care of a motherless child.
