Anna Marie is a Viennese dancer who, under the name Salome, knows how to use her charms well during the Franco-Prussian War. She falls in love with an American journalist and goes with him to Arizona. Salome manages to exploit her talents and eventually leaves for San Francisco, where she manages to snare a wealthy Russian. She marries him and afterwards has the financial means to fulfill her greatest wish: her own opera-theatre.
