Rou Qing Shi plot

Wu is in her mid-20s and lives with her mother in a traditional one-storey house in one of Beijing's narrow-street residential areas. Both consider themselves writers, but they have not known success so far. The fact that Wu is assisted by a divorced, elderly man helps the women through the lean periods. Their unhealthy close relationship is marked by blame and bickering; only during meals do they seem to lay down their verbal weapons. The situation escalates when both Wu and her mother reach an emotional low.
