Roaring Rails plot

A railroad engineer adopts an orphaned French boy while fighting in the army in World War I and takes him back to the US when the war is over. Later, the boy needs eye surgery that the engineer can't afford, so he takes the blame for a murder he didn't commit to get the boy the surgery.
